I agree that a POA can be a financial defense. Over the years I've met a number of seniors who are being pressured by a family member for money. In some cases, having the senior sign a POA that gives someone else control of the money takes the senior out of the line of fire. They can honestly tell the person who is mooching money that they are no longer in control of the bank account. The idea is to pick someone to work the POA who is not going to be intimidated by the moocher.
